Open an Account (if not already open)
Advisor opens appropriate account type using the XYIS Platform
If the account type is not available on the XYIS platform, please open via TDAI website. Once the account is opened, the XYIS team will be able to complete the electronic ACAT for you.
If you are opening the new account externally, please ensure that you use your individual rep code that is linked to the XYIS platform.
If the account is a 401(k), it may be required for the client to contact the contra firm directly. Please contact the contra firm on behalf of your client for instructions prior to submitting a 401(k) rollover request.
Upload Contra Statement to Client's Document Vault
Advisor places client’s most recent brokerage statement (from transferring firm, this must be the complete and most recent statement) in client’s document vault
Submit ACAT Request to XYIS Support Team
Advisor emails XYIS service team at email@example.com (Note: if you have multiple ACAT requests, please submit each in a separate email.)
“Hello, Please complete an ACAT for (client’s full name) on behalf of (advisory firm name) into the account number ending (last 4 of the account number) from (contra firm name). I have uploaded the statement to the client's Document Vault. The ACAT amount is approximately ($xxxxx)."
XYIS Service Team Prepares ACAT & Sends to Client for Signature
XYIS service team will prepare the ACAT documents via DocuSign and send to your client for signature. This DocuSign will come from a generic “Your Financial Advisor”, but your personal firm information will be included in the body of the email.
Your client will receive an email from DocuSign to click and sign documents
The signature location will be designated
The client will only need to enter their SSN on the document in a designated location
Form Submission & Follow-Up
Once the client completes the document, it will be automatically and securely delivered to TDAI.
The XYIS service team will place the completed ACAT form in the client’s document vault and will follow up on the ACAT and notify the advisor of any issues.
Note: Not all delivering firms accept electronic ACATs. You may find the list of firms that DO accept electronic ACATs here. Because the list of firms that accept electronic ACATs is constantly changing and being added to, it is XYIS's policy to attempt to process all ACATs electronically unless we know for a fact that they will be rejected. If rejected, we will provide you with the completed ACAT form (via the Document Vault) for your client to sign directly. You may then re-upload the signed form to the vault, and notify XYIS who will then submit and follow up.
