As you may have seen, TD Ameritrade will, on June 1, once again expand its list of commission-free ETFs, which they call the ETF Market Center (list attached). As fans of lower investment costs, we appreciate and applaud TDA's efforts in this regard. Unlike previous changes to the list, no ETFs will be removed, so there is no immediate need for decisions and your portfolios currently in place should continue to serve your clients well.
Nonetheless, it is our responsibility as fiduciaries to evaluate the new options and see where there might be a better choice than what we are using today. From our perspective at XYIS, we noticed new entrants in the international equity and domestic fixed income categories that are worth a look. There are also a few new products with an ESG (Environmental, Social, and/or Governance) overlay which will afford more flexibility for clients wanting this type of investment approach. We would encourage you to take a look for yourself and see what may make sense for your firm and clients.
For those utilizing XYIS, we’ve got you covered. We will notify you of any proposed changes once we conclude our review, but please let us know if you have specific questions in the meantime at firstname.lastname@example.org or (360) 301-7579.
See below for the complete list as of June 1.
